Should States Secede from America?

A friend just asked a good question:  what do I think about secession and what are the consequences if states go through with it?

Well, my first instinct is to say, “YEAH!  Let’s do it!”  But very quickly, reality settles in.  If any state did secede, or attempt to, it would be the end of the United States of America.  Literally.  Many people are just sick & disgusted at the way the Progressives have ruined our once-great nation.  I, too.  And when we think of secession, we somehow still see ourselves as American.  But that would not be so.  Just imagine.  If Ohio seceded from us, then they would be, what?  Not American.  They would become the country of Ohio with their own sovereign borders, laws, president, etc.  They would be Ohioans.  They would need to create a foreign relation staff to communicate with their powerful neighbor, America.

SEATTLE — Seattle police want the right to videotape protests and public demonstrations as a proactive way to fight crime. A city law makes that illegal, so the department is asking for a change in  that would let officers track certain people through a camera’s lens.

The Senate is set to vote on a bill today that would define the whole of the United States as a “battlefield” and allow the U.S. Military to arrest American citizens in their own back yard without charge or trial.

“The Senate is going to vote on whether Congress will give this president—and every future president — the power to order the military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians anywhere in the world. The power is so broad that even U.S. citizens could be swept up by the military and the military could be used far from any battlefield, even within the United States itself,” writes Chris Anders of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office.

1)  Obama has actively sought to dismantle the leadership of every pro-American Arab Muslim nation in the Middle East:  Mubarak in Egypt, Qaddafi in Libya, Saleh in Yemen, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Saudi Arabia and King Abdullah II of Jordan.  Each of these nations had or have leaders friendly to the interests of the United States.  None were a threat to us.  While he has rattled his saber at Iran and Syria, two nations who have actively and proudly supported terrorist activity against the United States, our European allies and Israel, Obama had effectively encouraged them to increase their influence in the Middle East.  The result of toppling the pro-American leaderships in the Middle East has been nothing less than the consolidation of power for the Muslim Brotherhood, the only organized political there.  The Muslim Brotherhood’s official stated goal is to destroy our long time, traditional ally Israel.

Am I The Next American Enemy Combatant To Be Killed?

The day that I agree with the ACLU is the day that confirms my belief that the world has truly turned upside down.  That day is today.  The ACLU is demanding transparency & legal justification for the killing of American born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, his teen age son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki (a U.S. citizen who was born in Denver in 1995), and his 17-year-old Yemeni cousin that were killed in a U.S. military drone strike that left nine people dead in southeastern Yemen.

Obama claims this Colorado boy was Al Qaida and needed to die.

While the death of Anwar al-Awlaki seems perfectly legal & just (as he was actively participating in war against his own country), the question remains open about his young son, another unnamed US citizen & his 17-year-old cousin (not to mention the nine possibly innocent Yemenis citizens) that were killed along with him.  Just when does the life of one bad man start providing perfect justification for the killing of children & innocents?  In our nation today, if a gang member decides to kill an enemy, but carelessly sprays the street with machine gun fire regardless of children and other innocent victims, we punish him even more strenuously than if he had simply killed his one sworn enemy.  I thought this was a standard notion in our nation.

Obama’s Doing: Is This What We Really Want?

Americans, this is the result of Obama’s crazy Middle East policies- brutal, shameful death.  Raw, raw, raw.  With gunfire & celebration.  This is what death looks like, people.  Every president before Obama has understood the need to keep the Middle East under control and as peaceful as possible.  Obama has systematically stuck his arrogant finger in the pie over there and stirred and agitated and stirred until the angry bees have streamed out of their nest in a murderous rage to kill.  Obama, the anti-war candidate, has made more war and has perpetrated more killing than any president in United States history.

He declared (with no Congressional backing, mind you), “Qaddafi must go!”, even though Qaddafi willingly gave up his nukes & chemical weapons after we invaded Iraq.  Qaddafi, while not a good man, was cooperating 100% with the international community in exchange for a peaceful recognition in the United Nations.  Is there no credit given when a dictator decides to change his ways?  Obama also promised, ‘no boots on the ground.’  Well, guess what?  We recently put boots on the ground in Libya.  And Wha-lah!  Here is Qaddafi’s body being stripped, kicked and bloodied.  Coincidence?

The story just gets richer.  Unemployment benefits have reached the most ludicrous levels in our nation’s history.  People who lost their jobs two years ago have been able to sit pretty, collecting unemployment benefits without doing a stitch of work to justify their paycheck while the rest of us dummies slog through our day doing whatever jobs we can to pay our bills.  Irresponsible people who didn’t bother to read their home loan contracts, who played Russian roulette with their interest rates, have been given the incredible ability to simply re-write their loans at 2% fixed interest loans with partial debt forgiveness to boot!  People who simply don’t wish to pay their home loans (because it is not ‘worth it’) are allowed to walk away, scott free, from their homes after refusing to pay their mortgage for over a year.  With the money they saved by not paying their loans, they can move on and buy foreclosed homes for cash in auctions.   All while responsible, honorable people work hard everyday to pay their own way through life.  And credit scores?  Who cares!  Because in this climate created by the Obama administration, a good credit rating doesn’t offer one iota of help to the people who have done the right thing their whole lives.  Small business owners can’t get desperately needed loans for their businesses because the equity is gone from their homes and bailed-out banks were not required to increase loans to businesses.  Individuals can’t get a good, low (or no) interest credit card if their life depended on it- regardless of their credit scores (because the equity in their home has dried up).  The credit lenders just look at them and think, “Your debt outweighs the ready assets you have.”  So who cares about credit scores?  All that matters is each man for himself, I guess.

Be still my heart.  Associated Press reports today that California is being overrun with pot shops.  Like foul sticky mushrooms, they have erupted in small shopping malls, neglected corners of city downtowns, and in-your-face store fronts.  The blinking neon marijuana leaves were bad enough, but could pot growing hippies be satisfied with their 1.3 billion dollar booming businesses?  Do the kind of people who open pot shops respect the law?  Did legalizing pot lead to less criminality in the drug arena?  With new federal activities to prosecute new drug crimes, have we really saved tax payer dollars by legalizing pot?  Of course not!  The pot shops have become brazen illegal drug operations where junkies can walk in as respected customers and purchase crack cocaine and other ‘hard’ drugs.  Of course, they have a ‘doctor’s note in hand for the marijuana and leave with extra prizes.

Obama begins his speech with a not so subtle barb that implied that Republicans have neither clarified their objections to his new spending spree, nor have given other alternatives.  This is a bald face lie.  John Boehner sent a memo to Obama expressly outlining the provisions which Republicans would support and which ones they wouldn’t.  Republicans have also proposed a drastic cut of governmental regulations on businesses, which would free up both time and money to begin their projects, hire employees and thus, cut the unemployment rate radically.

I have been tussling with the Wall Street protests.  While I like that some of the protestors correctly blame the banks for the mess we are in, most seem quite clueless as to who they want to blame and what they want to accomplish.  They just know they are mad.  And this is exactly what the Progressives have been waiting for.  Progressives like Obama, Reid & Pelosi.  Class warfare is the answer to all the progressive democrats woes.  Forget that it is Obama’s complete and utter failure to lead, his doomsday predictions about the economy right from the beginning (which is not such a good idea for a currency based not on gold, but on perception of value) and his disastrous economic policies.  The ignorant youth has heard the rallying cry of socialism.  Government is not to blame.  People with money are to blame.  And government should force the rich people to give their money to those who don’t have it, didn’t earn it and have no right to it.

Good science is not, nor ever can be, based on what can NOT be.  It must always keep its mind open to the possiblity that ANYTHING is possible.  Hence, atheist scientists’ claim that a belief in God is ‘unscientific’, ‘illogical’, or ‘irrational’  is equal nonsense.  A good scientist will always admit that.

1)  Shourd was in Iraq , working with refugees (helping Muslims come to America to get (I’m sure, a ‘free’) education), when her capture took place.  When asked why an obviously intelligent woman who understood the region would hike so close to the border, she states that she was in ‘safe’ location within Iraq and thought the Iranian border was miles away.  My belief is that her faith in Muslim politics and the goodness of Iranian leadership are what led her to feel so complacent about her proximity to the border.   This faith remains intact today.

Yet another indication of Obama’s failure to lead this nation in foreign policy.  A man with zero military experience arrogantly ignores his generals and chaos increases in the region.  Surprising?  I think not.  But what else should we have expected from a complete nobody from Chicago with no other credentials than the fact that he is black and can use a teleprompter will skill?  What else can we expect from a man who attended a church for twenty years that promotes, not Christianity, but the asinine philosophy that black people are somehow different that white people in America?   That the solution to issues relevant to black Americans are somehow different from the issues relevant to all Americans?  That dedicates itself, not to the spiritual health of all people, but to the political power of only black people.  That has a leader that rapturously screams, “God Damn America!” from his pulpit on a regular basis?  That has website that proudly proclaims, not a patriotism toward America, but,  ”We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent, the cradle of civilization“.  With a wife who first said she had never even been proud of America until it elected her husband to be president and then, lately, rolls her eyes and clucks her disapproval at the 9/11 flag folding ceremony?  I would not expect a man who fraternized with America haters like Rev. Wright & admitted terrorist Bill Ayers to take care of America against our foreign enemies.  No.  I would expect that man to work against the country he & his friends so clearly hate.

Sept 15,. 2011 NewsChannel 5 – WPTZ, in Vermont, reported that Gov. Peter Shumlin ordered the investigation into police conduct in the arrest of two illegal aliens from Mexico.  There is deep suspicion that two police officers committed an unspeakable act of violence against them:  during the speeding violation traffic stop, the troopers discovered that two men in the car were illegal aliens from Mexico and arrested them.  One radical and clearly racist trooper had notified the U.S. Border Patrol which then requested that the officers detain  the  Mexicans until federal agents arrived for the transfer to another facility for  processing.

The police officers were met with a human blockade of furious members of the Vermont Migrant Workers Solidarity Project that led to three of them being arrested.  See the news video where Gov. Shumlin says,

“We have always had a policy in Vermont where we kind of look the other way as  much as we can,” the venerable governor said.  “I just want to make sure that’s what’s  we’re doing.”

“In order to harvest our crops, to get our milk to market there’s no doubt about  it,” Shumlin added, “we need foreign (ie, ILLEGAL) workers.”
