D.C. Arrests Reporter for Recording Public Meeting

D.C. Arrests Reporter for Recording Public Meeting.

D.C. Reporter Gets Arrested for Recording At a Public Meeting is just the latest in a continuing string of government folk ignoring citizen’s Constitutional rights. And this time, not the rights of a private citizen but those of a member of the news media.

If you’re paying attention, you’ve noticed increasing numbers of stories reporting peoples’ arrests  more..

  1. This is nothing more than another example of the intimidation tactics being used by governmental agencies to protect themselves from having to follow the law. The message they are sending is clear: “We will do what we want, when we want, how we want, and to whom we want. If anybody tries to stop us in any way, we will arrest them.” As Mel Brooks said in History of the World – Part One, “It’s good to be the king!”

    • Yes, and Republicans must beware. Many wish to support actions like this when it suits their own causes, but true conservatives need to keep their eye on the long game and remember that the erosions of personal liberties, guaranteed by the Constitution, trump everything else. That being said, they need to beware of sheep in wolves’ clothing: liberals like the ACLU who claim the mantel of civil protections but only for a select group of people.
