Once and For All: Einstein Believed in God- He Believed In Jesus Too.

I just thought I would clear something up once and for all.   Albert Einstein was absolutely not an atheist. He was offended that anyone should say that. When he was younger, he was quoted as saying that he didn’t believe in a ‘personal’ God.  Desperate so-called atheists have latched onto that one statement and have taken it to the bank.  They conveniently forget the fact that he is still stating a belief in God, just not a personal one.  They also forget all his other quotes that affirm his strong belief in God.  There are also many blatantly false quotes that have Einstein mocking the bible- beware of these- he did not say those as he respected the bible- especially the New Testament.  He accepted the bible as historically accurate.

As Einstein aged, his words concerning God seemed to mature to a deeper understanding.  He never denied God’s existence.  I believe he wished he could stop believing in God but the facts stood in his way.  His mere intelligent and love of knowledge won out in the end.   In fact, he made it very clear that to deny God’s existence in the pursuit of science would be ‘lame’.   This is what many so-called brilliant scientists of today do.  Steven Hawking comes to mind.  Hawking allows his personal bitterness over his infirmities get in the way of facts.  That is what makes this theories ‘lame’.  Einstein was simply too intelligent to deny the factual print of Intelligent Design upon creation.  Intelligent Design is scientifically evident.  Intelligent Design (thus, the existence of God) is simply the most mathematically probable cause of creation.  Einstein saw this clearly- as anyone with even the semblance of honest intelligence would.  All his bitterness concerning the Holocaust couldn’t make Einstein fail to see the facts before his eyes.  This is what made him a great scientist.  This is what makes him better than Hawking.

In addition, in 1929, when once questioned about Jesus, he answered in ways that will truly surprise you. He never doubted Jesus’ existence and felt very strongly about him, even as a Jew.  One is left wondering if it hadn’t been for the fame, the Holocaust, the nuclear weapon which he created and the death that ensued (what terrible guilt did he feel?) that Einstein mightn’t have found salvation in the end.

Print this out and store it in your bible for future reference or copy and paste it to your Facebook Notes.  You no doubt have so-called atheist friends who love to either misquote Einstein or make absurd, and usually funny,  statements about how science hasn’t proven the existence of God (science is always right!) and so they won’t believe it,  or some such thing.  This article will prove very handy in those cases.  You can then pull them out and say, “Well, if God is scientific enough for a brilliant scientist like Einstein, I think he is scientific enough for me.”

Einstein was just a human being like everyone else. He was searching for God like everyone else. Being Jewish didn’t help.  Furthermore, he had just witnessed the destruction of 6 million of his people by the Germans.  When you read how Jesus inspired him, you will see how very close he was to finding the kingdom of heaven.  A Jew to be so very inspired by Jesus! He speaks more powerfully about Jesus than of God, whom he seems to resent. I can only hope that Einstein, in his final hours, decided to accept Jesus as the Messiah. I hope he is in heaven. His thoughts about God changed throughout his life. But he was NEVER a so-called atheist. He was just too intelligent for that. As I have always maintained, true genius must recognize God in existence. There is no other way to see it. Only a coward, a demon or a dunce can say otherwise.

Below are his quotes and their sources:

“It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly.”3

“I believe in Spinoza’s God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings.”4

“In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views.”5

“I’m not an atheist and I don’t think I can call myself a pantheist. We are in the position of a little child entering a huge library filled with books in many languages. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the arrangements of the books, but doesn’t know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.”6

******Albert Einstein received instruction in both Christianity (at a Roman Catholic school) and Judaism (his family of origin). When interviewed by the Saturday Evening Post in 1929, Einstein was asked what he thought of Christianity.*****

“To what extent are you influenced by Christianity?”
“As a child I received instruction both in the Bible and in the Talmud. I am a Jew, but I am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene.”
“Have you read Emil Ludwig’s book on Jesus?”
“Emil Ludwig’s Jesus is shallow. Jesus is too colossal for the pen of phrasemongers, however artful. No man can dispose of Christianity with a bon mot!”
“You accept the historical existence of Jesus?”
“Unquestionably! No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life.”7

  1. Even if your quote mining proved something useful, it counts for nothing in the matter of whether there is a god or not. A god, should one exist, does not need Einstein’s approval. Neither do I need his disbelief or deism to justify my non-belief. An argument from authority does not bolster your own position, rather it belittles the authority quoted. A revealed truth has no need nor place for leaders or authority. That the religious claim both, loudly and often, shows much about their argument. I don’t speak for anyone but myself and I can tell you that it does not matter to me what Einstein believed. His belief or lack thereof do not affect me in any meaningful way. The theory of general relativity does not speak to gods or belief but to reason and science. He proffered these above any thoughts of gods. Even if he did believe it would not prove your god exists. Such proof does not yet exist. I don’t suppose you have any proof on you?

    • Dear Myatheistlife, I totally agree that a human being’s belief or non belief in God has nothing to do with his actuality. However, my article had nothing to do with proving God’s reality. My article simply stated that Einstein believed in both God and Christ. My article was simply to smash the lame attempt of many (and I mean many) so-called atheists’ to use Einstein as their so-called atheist role model. My article’s point was to provide a useful tool to Christians to use the next time they encounter such a so-called atheist. Now, to answer the rest of your comment. As to Einstein proffering his theory of relativity without thought to God, that is false. Just read his quote. He said that all science that fails to take God into account is LAME. In my research of Einstein, it was clear that his thoughts concerning God greatly affected his theories. One of his theories involved a constant (I actually believe it was the theory of relativity? I forget which one it was) which he included because he hated the thought that God existed. He didn’t want God to exist. He didn’t want to acknowledge that the universe had a beginning. Then, based on other scientists’ work, he was forced to see that the universe must have had a beginning and to him, this must mean a God. He ended up having to change his mind concerning God. He very begrudgingly had to admit God into his theories. This is why he said he believed in God, but not a personal one. Einstein didn’t want to believe in God- he hated the evil in the world around him and truly struggled with the idea that there could be a God (which everyone agrees would be the personification of GOOD) and that he would allow all this terrible Nazi evil to exist. As with any kind of true intellectual pursuit, if you truly care about truth and real knowledge, you must find GOD and intelligent design at the end of it.

Now, as to scientific evidence. Myatheistlife, the evidence is overwhelming. The sheer mathematical odds are staggeringly in favor of God. It takes more faith to believe that chaos results in all this order than to believe that order resulted from a Willful Individual. Just your everyday experience should show the truth of this to you. It happens with such steady frequency that even you can’t deny it. Never, ever do we see chaos result in order. It goes against the law of entropy. Order requires energy. Chaos always results in decay. The only time we get order is through applied will and energy. Let a house sit without any will or energy and it will decay and eventually return to the earth. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, in human experience that shows chaos resulting in order and yet, the evolutionists would have us believe that ALL EXISTENCE happened in this way.

I could go on and on. But I won’t. When someone of average to decent intelligence refuses to see the obvious in front of them, there can only be one reason. It is because they don’t wish to see it. They have engaged their WILL power. When this is the case, there is absolutely nothing that can be said to change their minds.

So-called atheists like you have a REASON they hate God. And don’t tell me you don’t hate God. You actually IDENTIFY yourself as someone who doesn’t believe in God. Just think of the implications of that. You IDENTIFY yourself as the negation of something. That isn’t how I identify myself. If you don’t believe in God, why wouldn’t you positively identify yourself with something else? Instead, you are still stuck on God. That proves something right there. You just can’t let him go. You are obsessed with him. You come and read my article about him. You say you don’t care about Einstein’s belief and yet, here you are. Did I come to your blog? No. Why. Because I don’t care about your beliefs at all. They don’t interest me in the least. I am fine with you not believing. But you aren’t fine with me believing. You need to come here to attempt to destroy my belief and the belief of others. You need to destroy God. Why? Because you DO believe in God. And you hate that you do. You have this faint hope that if you can just get everyone else to stop, if you can just wipe God off every public document and public building, then YOU can stop thinking about God too. Then you will be free. Free from guilt. Free from this crazy sense of judgement you feel. And you blame Christians for ‘judging’ you. But WE aren’t judging you. GOD is judging you. And you know it. And you hate him for that. You feel his eyes upon you everyday and that drives you nuts.

My friend, God said in the bible that he wrote his commands on every human heart and because of that, no man will have an excuse on judgement day. YOU will not have an excuse. You won’t be able to say, “God, I was truly confused! I really didn’t know if you existed or not! No one ever told me. I am innocent because I truly didn’t know.” God will say, ” I see straight into your heart and soul and mind. I know everything you ever thought. You can’t hide from me. You always knew I existed because I made sure that every man knew I existed. I made it obvious. You are guilty. You are going into the fire of death.” And that will be the end for you. You only have one life to get this right. Stop this rebellion and come into the life. Stop hiding from God. Why are you hiding when you can be FREE? Being loved by God is a beautiful feeling! Being born again into a good life is truly wonderful! Why walk in darkness? Don’t you want to breath the fresh air? Jesus will truly set you free from your sins. Isn’t that what we all want? To be utterly forgiven for all that we have done? To be forever forgiven? Be an atheist no more. It is a simple decision. You are not bound by your choice. You can change it as simple as pie. Just ask Jesus to help you. And he will. I promise.

    • One way to first stump an atheist is to hold up a watch. Tell them it just appeared. No one made it. If they don’t believe that, they believe in a creator. I thank you. Jesus is mySavior. He died for me and gives me unmerited favor. I have had miracles in my life because of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I research lives of the “dead”. My friend floated out of her body when they were starting her heart.

  2. So you believe in souls? What is a soul? How do you know that you have one? Without proof that you have a soul why should you desire to save it from a punishment designed by your god to torture you with?

    • Ah, I see your problem, Mysocalledathiestlife. lol. Yes, I can see why the concept of a soul would bother someone like you. You fear punishment while I see reward and beauty. That is satan’s trick on you. Why do you allow him to steal away your life? He is tricking you by saying, “Since belief in a soul = punishment and pain and burning and fire, better to not believe in it. At least you can enjoy this life for a while. If there is hell, then you can claim ignorance to God when you see him.” I’m here to tell you that 1) you will never enjoy this life because you have rejected Jesus. God intentionally made every man and woman incomplete. There is a void, a black hole of need born into every human being. We all feel it- it needs to be filled. It is a craving so monstrous that if it can’t be filled, we will kill ourselves. We see this in the very rich & famous sometimes. They have reaches the pinnacle of human achievement and the black hole is as gaping as ever. No amount of sex, no matter how depraved, will fill it. No amount of rich food, wine, beer, exotic drink, drugs, experience, travel, erotica, hallucination or yoga can fill it. It is so infinitely black that even the universe can’t fill it. True Love can fill it. Not even children can fill it. Ultimately, this is why the divorce rate is so high. People actually believe that someone else will fill it. I know- I used to have this black hole- we all have it. Philosophers write about- poets reflect upon it. It is called the Human Condition. The everlasting question: Who am I? Why do I exist? WHY am I? And this need….to be whole. We feel alone and that feels wrong. We somehow know that we should not be alone, disconnected, like this. And yet, here we are… floating around in space.

Mysocalledatheistlife, there is only one person who was designed to fill that hole- and he is Jesus. God designed you that way. Therefore, you will never be satisfied in this life. So, satan’s first lie is disproven.

The second part of his lie, ie, that you can claim innocence- you know, just in case there really is a God, when you die. As I told you before, God is evident- and you already know he exists. So you don’t need me to tell you that. Since you already know of his existence, you can’t claim innocence. You will be doomed to die.

But none of this is WHY you should get to know Jesus. The reason you should know Jesus is because you wish to LIVE. Truly live. Life sucks without Jesus. It really does. That black hole rots. It feels gross. It goes nowhere, fast. Life lacks meaning and purpose. You are no one without Christ. With Christ, you become what you were always meant to be: God’s CHild. You are meant to live forever, with God. You are meant to be loved, embraced, cared for. You are meant to be cherished. You are, already, loved. God already loves and cherishes you and doesn’t want you to die that death. That is why you are talking to me. He brought you to me for a reason- so that you might live with him in bliss forever. He wants you to love him back. It’s as simple as that. Is that really so hard for you to do? Jesus is God’s gift to humanity. Not to punish the world- God has no need to punish the world. It is ALREADY dead. We already killed ourselves. We already punished ourselves. God sent Jesus to rescue us from our own evil. Not to judge us and to punish us. Jesus came to give us a door, a path, to heaven. No other religion or pagan god claims to do this. Jesus is the only way. He does this because he was willing to take the punishment on himself. You speak of punishment on your soul but you are completely mistaken about God. He had done the complete opposite of punish our souls. He had REDEEMED our souls from punishment by sending his Son who was punished instead of us. Jesus came for only one reason: to become our sin for us. He came to tell us about this new ‘deal’, this new ‘promise’, this new ‘covenant’, this new ‘testament’. It goes like this: “God, our Father, knows that you humans can’t help yourselves. No matter how you try, you sin. Even if you can behave well, you can’t control your thoughts- they are sinful. God can’t tolerate ugliness in heaven, certainly not forever- thus, you can’t be in heaven with him in your current state. God is just and he can’t ignore your sin. The only punishment for sin is death. But he doesn’t want all of humanity, whom he loves despite their sin, to die forever. Therefore, he sent me, Jesus, to die for you. I agreed to do this difficult thing for you because I love you too. I was there when you were made and I love my father as much as I love you. I have agreed, of my own free will, to give my life in exchange for yours. I want you to live instead of me. So, I came to earth to teach you about this new convenant from God, our Father, who is in heaven. Then, the people will kill me (or try to) and I will show you exactly how I will save you by being the first one I save. I will show you that all my Father’s promises are true. I will show you that I have the power to fulfill all my promises too. I will prove to you that if you will just believe me, I can not only save you from all your sins, but can give you life eternal in heaven with God. I will be falsely accused for your sake (didn’t I take all your sins upon me even though I didn’t sin?), I will be nailed to a cross until my physical body dies, I will be put into a tomb, dead and then, after three days, the official time that is allotted to make sure someone is really dead, I will raise myself up from the dead, body renewed and remade exactly as yours will be! You will get to see what your new body will look like and you will get to see me as your Lord risen. You will be so glad because you will know that all my promises are true. You will go back and read them and re-read them and will feel warm in your heart. You will never fear again because of my promises. Your life will glow from now on because of my teachings. All my words have LIFE- they will grow inside of you and will dispel all the darkness from your being. You will be like a person born again! You will be filled with light and joy- like someone who is filled and running over with fresh water. All you have to do is repent and believe that I will save you. ”

So, stop believing that the purpose of your soul is for God to punish you. That is not why I ‘believe’ in my soul. I believe in my soul for the same reason you believe in your soul. We both ‘believe’ in our souls because we know it is there. Period. Just as we know we have arms. It is a part of our bodies. (please don’t bother arguing with me on this point either. We both know you know you have a soul). However, I do believe that you don’t know why you have a soul. I do believe you might think it is to be punished. I can help you on that score. It is as I told you. Human beings chose to harm themselves and their souls when they chose to leave God in pursuit of ‘higher’ knowledge. In other words, we thought there was more to see than what God taught us. Guess what? there wasn’t. There was just depraved sex & porn instead of beautiful sex. There was just gluttony and barfing instead of gourmet dinners, there was just putrid drunkenness instead of sipping on the finest wines, there was just murder & thievery instead of love and kindness. There was more knowledge alright, but not knowledge worth having. WE hurt ourselves. We brought hell upon ourselves. Left to ourselves, we damn ourselves to hell, satan’s dominion. What satan whispers into your ear is what HE will do to you- ie, punish you- because you are already his. You chose that, of your own free will, long ago. God didn’t send you to him of his will. Instead, God sent Christ (and little ol’ me, here) to save you from yourself and your bad choice. All you have to do is reject satan’s lies and chose LIFE. I say it is simple because you hold all the cards and all the power to make a small choice. All you have to do is say, “Jesus, I change my mind. I do want you and I do want to live. I’m sorry I rejected you before! I want to change and I want to be remade, reborn and refreshed by you! I want to follow you from now on! Save me Jesus from my sins and dispel the darkness that surrounds me. Fill the black hole of need in my life! Help me Jesus, save me! ” That’s it. And he will come. Jesus said, “”Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” in Matt 7:7. The bible is a book of HOPE and life. Not punishment and death. So remember, loving God is not about punishment and death. It is about LIFE and JOY. Not just for after we die- but for RIGHT NOW, here on earth. Please think deeply- but don’t wait. the longer you allow satan to remain in you, the stronger will be his hold. Just make a wild dive into Jesus. I promise you that he will catch you. Nothing is coincidental. I promise you that you coming here, to my site, is not casual. God sent you here. He sees your pain. He knows everything you are going through. He forgives you all your doubt and bitterness and anger. He still loves you profoundly. This is his call to you to not give up on LIFE. Come back to him and let him heal you. Come back and live again. I will pray for you, mysocalledatheistlife. I will pray hard for you. God has set you upon my heart, dear. Much love and be strong. Life can be very hard and I well know it! You will be ok- stick with God. Satan is a liar.

      • Short Little Rebel,

I asked you just three questions. You have not answered any of them. It doesn’t even appear that you tried to. You deliberately altered my name in your response. This seems disrespectful. Is that how you intended for me to perceive your response? I won’t respond other than this in the first instance because I feel that you have not heard what I asked. Would you please address the questions asked?

      • First, I did answer your questions- you just didn’t like the answers. You asked about proof. The proof is that you already know he exists. You just don’t want to admit it. What do you want me to do about that? Ditto for the soul. You know that God exists. You know you have a soul. You think your soul is for punishment and presuppose that I believe it is for punishment too. That question is loaded with a false assumption- that I think like you. I cleared that up for you- I don’t think like you. I know differently. Thus, I educated you as to the purpose of your soul. I answered all three questions. Again, you just didn’t like my answers. What you wish to do is act like you don’t know what I’m saying here because you want to publically ‘win’ some sort of debate- as if that matters at all. The only thing that matters here is your life. My life is already happy and prepared for eternity. I don’t care if I ‘win’ this argument. That isn’t why I write this blog. I write to help people like you. If you can’t accept the truth, then you will reject it. If you don’t want the truth, then you will walk away. But that doesn’t hurt me- other than to make me sad for you. It only hurts you. I certainly have no desire to argue with you further on the matter. As to changing your name, it is not done in disrespect, but more tongue in cheek. There are no atheists. Only disobedient Children of God. I’ve prayed for you. I really do hope you turn around so that you can be saved. Susan

  3. I don’t disbelieve out of choice. It’s not as if I know God is really there, but somehow willfully refuse to believe in it. I disbelieve simply because I know of no compelling evidence or reasons to believe. A person cannot sincerely choose to believe in something, just because it is pragmatic to do so. Even if you said all the right prayers and attended church regularly, that would still not be the same thing as believing from the heart, and any real God would obviously see straight through that. If you want to convince unbelievers, show them some good evidence or reasons. Don’t just say it’s in their best interests to believe even if there is no God.

    • Hi Tyson, you know? First, I know you believe in God. All atheists do. If I didn’t believe in something, I would never talk about it. The first reason I know atheists believe in God is their protestations that they don’t. The second reason is their sheer hatred of Christ. They don’t hate any other religious figure like they hate Jesus. That’s proof number 2. Another thing that makes me laugh at atheists is this mind numbing belief that science is somehow ‘god’. That science is ‘right’ or ‘proof’ of anything. If you have any intelligence or reason at all, you must understand that ‘science’ is always wrong; that it must be wrong; that the state of knowledge today is but a tiny dent upon what is yet to know; that it is a given that tomorrow will bring new information to turn everything we know today upside down! If you can’t understand that, then you truly know nothing at all! History alone has taught us that. Any good scientist already knows this and humbly accepts this notion- with a good dose of humor. Only unintelligent people think they have any answers at all. All one must do is look at the stars or look deeply into a microscope or even into the vastness of the sea to get it. It’s exciting to know that we know nothing. It means so many more years of exploration! But to make ‘science’ a god…? well, that’s just stupid! You can bet that what we ‘know’ WILL be wrong tomorrow! AND ‘science’ can never say that God can’t be real. In fact, ‘science’ MUST say that the probably of God’s existence is VERY HIGH based on all that we have discovered and all that we have observed. No one can deny that God CAN and probably does exist. The only thing that can’t be said, for sure, is that he DOES exist, for sure. But the probability of his existence and that he created everything you see is currently the most mathematically PROBABLE solution proposed by anyone so far. That’s for sure. All other solutions have a probability of ZERO as they can’t explain the most basic questions like, where did the originating matter and energy come from?

In any case, I don’t try to ‘convince’ anyone to believe in God. This article is to show that Einstein, one of the most brilliant men to ever live, believed in God. This is to silence all the dingbats who say that to believe in God is to be intellectually stupid. Especially when the exact opposite is true. If you want some interesting articles on this, see
